Brokedown Palace

It's a strange phenomenon.

Ever since I moved here to Singapore, I have broken a lot of things. No let me rephrase that. A lot of things have gotten broken around me. Accidentally. Coincidentally.

There was the black and white necklace my grandma gave me which I have worn a lot of times in Manila. One of the rings just gave out. There's the other necklace my grandma gave me from India. Again, the string just broke. Another necklace is one I have worn hundreds of times, a gold chain with a key brooch as pendant. The chain got caught at the edge of a desk and broke off.

I have a cardigan wherein the button fell off. Plus a long white top which has rows of buttons and I suddenly notice one button missing.

The gemstone from my crochet earrings purchased from Japan fell off. The partner to one of my dangly earrings got lost. I accidentally dropped a murano pendant necklace given by one of aunts and of course the pendant clasp broke off.

I have never had such bad luck with accessories before...
I wonder if this has a deeper meaning; or is God just telling me I have way too much stuff...?

Walking Around on a Weekend

I never walk in Manila.
Okay not exactly accurate... I almost never walk outdoors in Manila except through a parking lot or to get to a car. Otherwise, I'm always chauffered around, which is just the way I like it there. The heat, pollution, safety issues - it's not exactly conducive to strolling around the metropolis.
But in a more appropriate environment, I love walking and discovering little sights along the way. One can appreciate it better in a slow pace than zooming past places in a heavily tinted car.
Of course, it may also be because the shoes I wear in Manila are not exactly made for walking long trips. Plus I don't exactly know how to drive nor how to bike, so my own two feet are my only known mode of transportation on land.
